Calley's Musical Background
Calley is classically trained as both a violinist and vocalist. At age seven she was introduced to the violin and was formally trained at the Hartt School of Music. She performed in numerous orchestras and choral groups throughout her high school years.
The Celtic Connection
Early on Calley's attentions focused on the music of her Irish and Scottish heritage, and she experienced traditional fiddling first-hand thanks to some fine musicians from Ireland, Canada, and near her home in New England. Calley's eclectic style does draw on her classical background, however it is the Celtic influence taught to her the age-old way ("by ear") that is most prominent in her playing style. Calley has also won numerous awards for her competition fiddling.
Live Performing
With her heartfelt singing of traditional ballads and her electrifying fiddling, Calley's performances are engaging and have a wide appeal with live audiences. Now a college student, her presence on stage is both energetic and poised, having logged some 300 plus live performances in over 10 years as a musician. With a repertoire that relies heavily on traditional song, as well as Celtic rock arrangements of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes, her live shows have an inter-generational appeal.
